Join Edge of World Retreats September 18 - 27, 2007 for a power place tour to the sacred sites of England and Ireland, including a celebration of the Autumnal Equinox at Stonehenge. The ten-day adventure tour also includes stops at Glastonbury, Salisbury and Newgrange.
Arriving in London, England, participants begin their tour of the many power places of England and Ireland with a transfer to Bath. In Bath, tour members will investigate the phenomena of crop circles, perhaps, even examining a newly formed creation
Moving on to Glastonbury, the group will explore the myths of the Holy Grail and King Arthur and will tap into the divine union connected to the masculine and feminine energies found at this sacred site. Home to medieval saints, Glastonbury is the hub of a number of Grail legends, the original Isle of Avalon, and is also known as the burial site of King Arthur and Guinevere. Overlooking it all is Glastonbury Tor, a fascinating holy hill.
Participants will experience the Autumnal Equinox on September 23 at Stonehenge. A Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monument; Stonehenge is one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world. Archaeologists believe the massive stones standing in a circle were built between 2500 BC and 2000 BC. Many theories exist as to the purpose of Stonehenge; regardless, it truly is a sacred site with a unique connection to the Solstices and Equinoxes
In Ireland, participants will explore the mysterious site of Newgrange. Predating the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt by 500 years and Stonehenge by 1,000 years, the kidney shaped mound covers an area of over one acre, is surrounded by 97 kerbstones, some of which are richly decorated with megalithic art. Megalithic mounds such as Newgrange entered Irish mythology as sídhe or fairy mounds, with Newgrange as the mythological home of Oenghus, the god of love.
Also while in Ireland, tour members visit two important sites for spiritual pilgrimage: the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock and Mt. Croagh Patrick. Known for a miraculous occurrence, Knock has grown to the status of an internationally recognized Marian Shrine. And, since ancient times the Celtic people have regarded Mt. Croagh Patrick as a sacred site and the dwelling place of the deity Crom Dubh.
