Egypt 2008

Egypt in 2008: The Time is Now

Imagine yourself drifting down the Nile, the source of life for ancient Egypt…receiving the blessing of Great Mother Isis at her island temple on Philae…marveling at the mystery of the Great Pyramid of Cheops…taking in the eye-popping treasures of King Tut’s tomb at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo…shopping for exotic spices and gifts at an Aswan market.

In our September pilgrimage to the magical land of Egypt—home of the oldest and longest-lasting civilization on earth—we will visit ancient power spots like the Temple of Karnak at Luxor, the largest temple complex ever built. We’ll view the Great Temple of Ramses II and Nefertari at Abu Simble, and the Great Pyramid of Cheops at Giza—the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. Expertly led by a local guide, we’ll learn about Egypt’s fascinating history, including the amazing accomplishments of the Pharoahs in their quest for eternal life. And, we’ll visit out-of-the-way sites where we can commune with the ancient spirits of the land and the gods and goddesses of antiquity.

With the guidance of accomplished astrologer and ritualist Simone Butler, we will evoke the sacred within ourselves through energetic attunement to the land and working with our own, specific astrological cycles to break free of old patterns and awaken hidden parts of ourselves. As we explore the powerful tale of Isis and Osiris—the guiding myth for our time—this ancient power couple will show us how to heal old wounds and tap into an intense, cosmic fusion that exalts the male and female into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Timing our journey to make the most of mid-September’s potent planetary cycles, we’ll visit the breathtaking Temple of Karnak and evoke the sacred union of Isis and Osiris on the day that Mars and Venus come together in Libra, sign of the cosmic lovers. And, we’ll celebrate the most highly-charged Full Moon of the year at the Isis Temple at Philae, the last stronghold of Isis worship on Earth, as we allow the liberating energies of Uranus to work their magic on us.

After exploring the wonders of Cairo and neighboring Giza, including a late-afternoon camel ride to the pyramids and evening light and sound show at the Sphinx, we’ll begin our journey down the Nile aboard the luxury cruiser M/S Nile Carnival, with its delicious food and belly-dancing shows. To unwind, we’ll swim in the pool and relax in a Jacuzzi, or stretch out on deck as the river flows by and contemplate the North Star—considered our cosmic home by the ancient Egyptians. Those who wish to will meet informally in the evenings to discuss the experiences of the day, and share our dreams and personal discoveries. This once-in-a-lifetime journey will create memories to treasure for a lifetime!
